The Vocational Training Program for challenged adults began in 2005. Currently there are about 15 adults who come from the Tierra del Sol Foundation, a private educational organization. The trainees come to Thrift Alley for two hours on scheduled days and participate in various storekeeping tasks appropriate to their individual interests and skills. The volunteer members supervise their work and evaluate them monthly. Some trainees learn transferable skills that enable them to get a job. They receive hands-on experiences while contributing to the performance of the store and serving the community.
The community, Thrift Alley and participants in this program all benefit.
